Operational cost reduction

Find where time, labor, and money leak out of the process.

Wolfers Way investigates cost through the real workflow—not through across-the-board cuts that damage service. The goal is to locate avoidable cost, verify the cause, and build a controlled improvement.

Unnecessary labor touches and handoffs

Waiting, searching, rework, and repeated approvals

Packaging choices and dimensional-weight exposure

Carrier invoices, surcharges, shipment method, and billing exceptions

Vendor charges and recurring overbilling patterns

Inventory errors, shortages, excess handling, and poor location control

Returns, damage, reshipments, and avoidable service failures

Manual reporting, duplicate entry, and underused software

Overtime, bottlenecks, poor prioritization, and preventable escalation

Reduce the touches

Make the work travel a shorter, clearer path.

This illustration shows the kind of change Wolfers Way looks for. The actual sequence and savings must be measured inside each client’s operation.

04Recheck
05Chase exception

Repeated entry, unclear ownership, physical movement, and exception chasing create delay and more opportunities for error.

03Review exceptions

Clear rules, reliable system handoffs, and exception-based review protect control while reducing unnecessary effort.

For measurable cost reductions

A project fee tied to verified savings.

When an improvement can produce measurable expense reductions, we can agree on one of these options. Time freed up is capacity until it reduces an actual expense. Projects such as training or system adoption may use separately agreed fees.

One-time project fee

The first month’s verified net savings

The fee equals the verified net savings from the first full month after implementation and stabilization. Once paid, that agreed improvement has no continuing savings-share fee.

Spread the project payments

10% each month for 18 months

Pay 10% of verified net savings in each of 18 consecutive months, starting after implementation and stabilization. Months with no verified savings have no savings-share fee. This can cost more in total than the one-time option. After month 18, the savings-share fee ends.

Clear before you commit

Your evaluation payment counts toward the total.

The evaluation fee is due when you hire me and credited 100% toward total engagement fees. If you do not hire me, there is no evaluation charge. Before hiring, we agree in writing on how the evaluation payment is treated if total earned fees are lower than that payment.

We also agree on starting costs, qualifying savings, volume and service changes, implementation costs, evidence, and responsibilities. Savings-share payments do not require an ongoing support subscription; additional support is optional and separately agreed.

Where could time and money be going?

Change the example inputs to match your operation. See the time you could free up and the recurring costs worth reviewing. The results are estimates to investigate, not verified savings or a price quote.

Count each cost once. Leave out labor already counted under touches removed, and shipping costs entered below. These are costs to investigate; the calculator does not assume every mistake can be eliminated.

111 hours / month

Labor value: $2,778 / month. This is separate from the costs above. It becomes cash savings only when an actual expense is reduced.

Anonymized operating examples

Evidence before promises.

These examples reflect prior operating experience and are intentionally summarized to protect confidential information. Past results do not guarantee future savings.

Shipping-cost leak

Prior work included identifying an international shipping-cost variance and investigating the shipping decisions behind it.

Carrier-charge recovery

Prior work included reviewing disputed carrier charges, gathering evidence, and supporting billing challenges.

Touch reduction

Selected workflow changes removed approximately one to four unnecessary handling steps, reducing movement and opportunities for error.

Purpose-built order routing

Multi-quantity and multi-line work that did not fit the standard automated-packing path was separated into dedicated processes with clearer handling and ownership.

Packaging decisions

Package size, shipment method, product handling, and automation rules were reviewed together to prevent expensive avoidable shipments.
